Rhynchospora crinipes, previously known only from the holotype and paratype from Alabama, has recently been discovered in western Florida. Collection and habitat data are given, and the species description is emended because Florida plants are generally more robust than the earlier collections. A comparison with the similar R. filifolia indicates its distinctness. Scanning electron micrographs of achenes of the two species illustrate certain distinctions.
